Job Description

* Lead and mentor a team of backend engineers in Java and related technologies.

* Drive hiring, onboarding, and performance management for the backend engineering team.

* Build a culture of engineering excellence, accountability, and continuous learning. Architecture & Backend Engineering

* Architect scalable and maintainable backend solutions using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices.

* Apply strong fundamentals in Core Java (OOPs, Collections, Design Patterns, Multithreading), JDBC, and MyBatis to guide design decisions and code reviews.

* Oversee development across the Spring Framework, REST APIs, and front-end-adjacent technologies (HTML, jQuery, AJAX, JavaScript, CSS) where backend and UI integration is required.

* Ensure performance, security, scalability, and maintainability of the product across all backend services.Tech Stack Modernization

* Define and drive the roadmap for modernizing legacy components of the tech stack - including framework upgrades, architecture refactoring, and adoption of modern engineering practices.

* Identify technical debt and prioritize remediation alongside feature delivery.

* Evaluate and introduce modern tools, frameworks, and patterns (microservices, CI/CD, containerization) to improve velocity and system resilience.

* Drive adoption of DevOps practices to improve deployment frequency, reliability, and operational visibility. Quality & Engineering Practices

* Champion a strong quality culture - code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and performance benchmarking

* Define and enforce engineering best practices, coding standards, and design review processes across the team.

* Partner with QA to reduce production defects and improve release reliability.Cross-functional Collaboration

* Work closely with Product Management to translate requirements into technical designs and delivery plans.

* Partner with Engineering peers and the Product Council to align on architecture decisions and module ownership.

* Communicate technical trade-offs, risks, and timelines clearly to stakeholders and leadership
